News from the Live-for-Health Wellness Program

February 2007

Greetings to Alumni and Friends,

Well, here we are one month into the year 2007.  Time goes by so quickly that our resolve to make changes can get left in the dust of pressing duties and cares of this world.  I hope that you are taking time each day to exercise.  I've committed this year to not just an exercise program, but to a vigorous exercise program.  Already I'm seeing the benefits in strength, stamina and toning.  I encourage you to build all the strength and fitness that you can.

"If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?" Jeremiah 12:5

February is National Cancer Prevention month, and fitness is an important part of preventing many forms of cancer.  Recent statements from the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center reveal that "researchers have found that about 30 minutes of exercise three to four times per week may help decrease your risk of several types of cancer, including breast, endometrial, prostate, colorectal and lung cancers.

According to the National Cancer Institute, physically active women have a 40 percent reduced risk of developing breast cancer, and physically active men have a 10 to 30 percent reduced risk of developing prostate cancer.

"The easiest way to incorporate physical activity into your day is to find an activity that you enjoy doing so that you don't become bored or burned-out," Cook said. People who make exercise part of their everyday routine gain the most health advantages and are most likely to continue."

Exercise not only builds physical strength, but stimulates the immune system and helps to offset the effects of stress on our body and mind.  So, get up, buck up, gear up and enjoy good fitness.

We think of you all.  Send us an e-mail when you can.  By the way, anyone you know can get on our website and sign up for this e-mail newsletter at www.emeraldwellness.com.
blessings,

Do you have some new, easy, delicious recipes
you'd like to share?  E-mail them to us and we'll put them on the website for all to share.

Bill H. age 67, retired, loves to travel with his wife and help in missionary construction. He also had Type II Diabetes with blood sugars running about 160 and as high as 200 and a history of heart disease.

Bill came with his wife to the Live-for-Health Wellness Program because of her health problems. But they immediately decided that Bill needed the help offered here as well. So we were delighted to enroll Bill and include him in the medical care and hydrotherapy that our primary health guests receive.
It was exciting to see Bill’s glucose come down steadily every morning when he checked his blood sugar. The last day of the program his morning blood sugar was 107. A month later, his morning blood sugar reading was 100, perfectly normal! But in addition to that, Bill has been able to discontinue all of his medications. His cholesterol is 114 with no medication. His glucose is perfectly normal and so is his blood pressure without prescriptions! And, he’s lost 15 lbs. since the beginning of the Live-for-Health wellness program.

His wife’s testimony: “Praise the Lord for His mercy and kindness to us for leading us  to better health.  Our prayer is we will love Him more and serve Him better through this renewed strength He has provided! You and the staff there at Emerald Wellness are among our favorite Christmas Blessings!  May God continue to use you to richly bless and encourage others!” Anjie H.
